Season-ticket draft FAQ
Quick answers about how Top Salty Picks works. New here? Start with the three-step overview or our guides.
Getting started
What is Top Salty Picks?
A web app for groups that share season tickets. The organizer adds the games, invites the group, and everyone takes turns choosing games in a draft. Every pick is recorded, and the results page shows who is going to which game.
Do I need an account?
Yes. You sign up with an email address (or Google) and must verify your email before using drafts. Creating an account is free.
How do I add the games?
The organizer adds events one at a time, or uploads a CSV file using the downloadable template. If any row in a CSV has a problem, nothing is imported, so you can fix the file and try again.
Invitations
How do I invite people?
Enter an email address or a phone number on the Participants page. The person receives a one-time invitation link by email or text.
What does an invitee have to do?
They sign in (or create an account) with the invited email address or phone number, which must be verified on their account, and then accept the invitation. The link alone never adds anyone to a draft. They can also decline.
Can I resend or cancel an invitation?
Yes. The organizer can resend an invitation, which replaces the earlier link, or revoke it.
Can the draft start before everyone accepts?
No. The draft can start once at least one person has accepted, the group has at least one event, and no invitations are still pending or declined. Revoke declined or pending invitations you no longer need.
Pick order
Who decides the pick order?
The organizer arranges participants in order on the Participants page. Top Salty Picks does not pick the order for you, so use whichever method your group agrees on, such as a random draw.
What is the difference between snake and repeat order?
Repeat order uses the same sequence every round (1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3). Snake order reverses each round (1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1). Snake is the default. Our snake vs. repeat guide has examples.
Can more than one person pick the same game?
No. Each game can be picked once, and the draft ends when the games run out.
Private rankings
What is a private ranking?
Before or during the draft you can order the games by how much you want them, add star ratings and notes. Only you can see your list. It never makes a pick for you and does not limit your choices.
Notifications
How will I know it is my turn?
Participants are notified by email or text, whichever they choose, when it is their turn and when picks are made. You can mark yourself ready before the draft starts, and the group is told.
Do I have to give a phone number?
No. A phone number is optional. Text alerts are sent only to a phone number you have verified. Text messages currently do not include links.
During the draft
Is there a time limit per pick?
No. There are no timers and no automatic picks. The draft waits until the person whose turn it is chooses.
Can I see what happened?
Yes. Every pick is logged, the results page shows who has which games, and picks can be downloaded as a CSV file.
Can anyone see my draft?
No. Drafts are visible only to the organizer and accepted participants.
